After 60 years of water fluoridation in the US, "'Dental problems are the largest preventable childhood diseases that go untreated,' said Ron Lautzenheiser, chairman of Project Smile.

Children in families with annual incomes of $10,000 to $20,000 have 10 times more unmet dental needs than children whose families earn more than $50,000 each year, according to the American Dental Association.

And 23 million children in the United States do not have dental insurance."
