Huge Turnout For Free Dental Clinic In New Haven -- Courant.com

In Connecticut where fluoridation is state-mandated: "The promise of free dental care drew hundreds of people from across the state, many of whom came during the night to snag a place in line. The line wrapped around the building by the time the clinic opened, and by 8 a.m., 520 people had registered.

Organizers planned to hold the clinic again today, beginning at 5 a.m., and expected to serve 2,000 people in all.

Dr. Robert Schreibman, a Glastonbury dentist who is co-chairman of the mission, said he had tears in his eyes when he saw the line Friday morning. 'This is heartbreaking for me,' he said. 'It breaks my heart to see this many people in the second richest state in the country having to line up at 7 o'clock the night before.'"
