Future gets brighter for cosmetic dentistry - 2004-03-22 - Cincinnati Business Courier:

"A 2000 survey by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) -- the most recent conducted -- found that the number of cosmetic procedures dentists performed increased by as much as 200 to 300 percent during the previous five-year period. Local dentists say the increase is continuing, likely at an even higher rate. "

"Cosmetic dental procedures generally are not covered by insurance, and with porcelain veneers costing anywhere from $750 to $1,500 per tooth and laser whitening averaging $650 or more for a 90-minute session, they can't be considered inexpensive."
